S-U-C-C-E-S-S!

It's All About You

If your looking for a quick fundraising boost listen and learn. It will take some planning , thought and organization but in just 5 hours (open house style) and roughly 13 supporters you to will watch your fundraising thermometer sky rocket.

All you have to do is:

Invite pretty much everyone you know to your house. It is important that you ask your guests to leave their wallets at home but bring unwanted jewelry, old, unworn or broken gold, silver and platinum jewelry and turn it into CASH. Have a Gold Home Party buyer sit at your kitchen table and purchase that old class ring, broken necklace, sterling silver flatware set, silver coins, even dental gold. Watch as your family and friends scream like giddy school girls when they are given large amounts of CASH.

With the cold hard cash that the guest were given they will be lining up to purchase raffle tickets. (Raffles were donated by vendors or local business owners.) Guest will still think they are rich and want to take a take a spin on the around the world shopping extravaganza that will be set up on the entire first floor of your home.

Get vendors and local business to help you out.

Arbonne offered samples of their all natural, highly addictive protein bars & energy drinks. Right up any 3-Day'ers alley! Thirty One had a ginormous display set up to touch and feel. The consultant added a personal touch and sold small and large pink rosettes.

Tasty treats were provided by Yorktown Cookie Co. Owner, Lucia came up with some very clever ideas this year keeping up with the spirit of the 3-Day. Over The Top Cupcakes donated 28 cupcakes in a jar. We didn't have ONE left.

Don't forget to sell your team swag, it's the icing on the cake!

Ta-Ta car magnets, tags & t-shirts were on hand for to purchase.

Angel Of Grace Bracelets were available and donations for the PHONE-raiser were accepted.

Don't forget to serve light refreshments, keep it very simple.

{Approximately $900 was raised at this event, crazy but true!}

GOOD LUCK , let us know if you take our advice.

Super Clinic at New Balance in KOP

On Saturday morning Heather, Nicci and Marissa attended a SGK Super Clinic at New Balance in King of Prussia, the entire store was “PINK”ed out for the event. There were about 45 people there as well as 6-7 other local teams. The Camden River Sharks mascot showed up & gave everyone in attendance two free tickets to a Sharks weekday game!

New Balance KOP has a machine which will scan your feet and tell you the type of arch you have, the size shoe they recommend & where you have the most pressure – we learned Marissa has super high arches and Nicci & Heather have very similar flatter arches – but Nicci it seems has no toes!

Nicci & Heather got the newest SGK New Balance sneakers.

The sizing was amazing to us both, all these years thinking a tight fit meant good support to find out it’s NOT good at all – when walking long distances you need to allow your feet to expand fully and also allow for room for swelling as 60 miles in 3 days is going to take its toll on all our feet!

So while Heather and Nicci normally purchase size 8.5 or 9 sneakers – Heather is sporting a size 10 and Nicci a 10.5. They feel amazing, breathable and comfortable – here’s to NO blisters for the Ta-Ta Sisterhood’s 60 Miles in 3 Days!

We also found out what those curious extra holes at the top of your sneakers are really for – they are there to tighten and lock in your laces.Watch the instructional video to learn how you can use them. It was like being in Kindergarten and learning to tie your shoes all over again!

New Balance is a wonderful partner to SGK offering all walkers 15% off their entire purchase as well as donating 5% of the purchase of any SGK merchandise back to SGK.It was a fabulous day with great people. Thank you New Balance for your support and awesome shoes!

DC Cupcakes Support SGK 4 the Cure

Last fall, the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure® was happy to welcome sisters Sophie LaMontagne and Katherine Kallinas to the Washington, D.C. 3-Day for the Cure. But, instead of wearing sneakers and walking 60 miles, Sophie and Katherine donned pink aprons and set up a giant cupcake display at our Closing Ceremony. Why you may ask? Sophie and Katherine are the stars of TLC's DC Cupcakes and joined us as part of their "Think Pink" episode. In this episode, Sophie and Katherine build a giant pink bra to support the walkers at the 3-Day. The premiere of DC Cupcakes' "Think Pink" episode airs on TLC onFriday, March 25 at 10/9c. In addition to their "Think Pink" DC Cupcakes episode, Sophie and Katherine continue to support Susan G. Komen for the Cure® through their bakery, Georgetown Cupcake. From March 25 through October 31, 2011, Georgetown Cupcake will donate 100% of the purchase price of the Pink Ribbon Cupcake to Susan G. Komen for the Cure with a guaranteed minimum payment of $50,000.

KICKOFF!

{Laura is the only one missing!}

Friday evening we had our first kickoff meeting of the season. It's hard to believe that The Ta-Ta Sisterhood has almost doubled in size since 2010. We are very excited, energized and are ready to get it done!

Little did we know that Camille had a little surprise in store for us.....

Her Aunt went to a Promise Me book signing and brought home a copy just for us.

How cool is that?

Thank you Aunt Jennie!!

Good News!

Youth Corps Goes National
The 3-Day for the Cure will have a new crew team this year - the Youth Corps! This is a specialized team that allows young people from the ages of 10 to 16 to participate as crew members on the event. Youth Corps members will attend the entire 3-Day event (accompanied by a small group of Crew Captains), tent at night in camp with the participants and complete a multitude of important tasks both on the route and in camp. Each Youth Corps member will be required to fundraise at least $500. If you or someone you know is interested in more information about this opportunity, please attend a Youth Corps Get Started Meeting. Meetings will be posted on our online calendar starting later this month. There will be a limited amount of Youth Corps positions available in each 3-Day location and participation in a Get Started Youth Corps Meeting is mandatory prior to registration.
